Aside from being tasty and beautiful, pineapple is also a healthy fruit that has long been used in holistic medicine. You might be pleased to hear that a cup of pineapple chunks (165G approx.) provides 131% of the recommended daily allowance of Vitamin C!

This is good news for anyone, especially those of us who tend to be anemic. How you ask? Vitamin C aids in the absorption of iron. Add this gorgeous, juicy, tropical fruit to your diet and your iron absorption is sorted. Hooray!

For the rest of you, Vitamin C is also essential for tissue repair. Eating pineapple can therefore improve skin health, bone and teeth health. It is important for immune system function, and also works as a great antioxidant to battle chronic inflammation and disease.


Ingredients:-

  1. 1 medium fresh pineapple (about 4 cups )
  2. ½ cup water
  3. 2 tablespoons sugar or more (optional)
  4. ½ -1 lemon (use the juice, optional)
  5. ice cubes

Instructions:-

  1. Using a sharp chef’s knife, slice off the bottom of the pineapple, cut the top, if desired, then cut off the thick outer layer.
  2. Lay the pineapple on its side and slice the pineapple, removing the thick inner layer of pineapple. Chop it into chunks.
  3. Next add pineapple chunks in a food processor or in a blender, together with water and sugar, if using any.
  4. Blend until the smooth puree and there are no chunks of fruit in the mix.
  5. Strain the juice using a  fine sieve or cheesecloth. Be sure to press out all the juice from the cheesecloth.
  6. Adjust the taste and thickness of juice with more water sweetener.
  7. Serve immediately with ice cubes, garnish with pineapple, lemon, or mint.
